Let's do something together.
When completed, The Tessellation Project will be a massive communal work of art curated and installed at The KANEKO, made from thousands of pieces of art, created by you in your home.
The Tessellation Project began in March 2020 as a request to our creative community to join us to make communal artistic expressions during this time of physical seclusion and social disruption. The goal of this project is to curate individual artistic pieces from a variety of mediums into communal works of art. This effort will combine our unique space, content, and artistic natures while interacting and engaging our community as we move through each phase of this time.
The nature of this time is ambiguous and unpredictable and as our relationship with it evolves, so does the way The KANEKO team approaches this project. Our first request to the global community was for each person, young or old, novice or established artist, to create a piece of art on an 8x8 tile that would represent what Isolation meant to them. In the last 10 weeks, we received over 1000 digital submissions from people around the world, connecting all of us to this project without any physical contact. We are now working together at the KANEKO to understand how to curate works of art from these individual submissions. As we all react to our changing times, we too are reacting to what you send us and will be sharing the evolution of our work with you soon.
