We have a long history of sustainability education and action in the Klamath Basin since 1995. Our volunteer-based membership provides residents information and behaviors to live a life in Klamath that more deeply considers and respects the beautiful environment that supports us.
Sustainable Klamath (SK) started as Klamath Basin Coalition for a Livable Future, which developed as a result of a League of Women Voters 1995 study on “children at risk”. We worked as part of LWV Klamath County and the Klamath Basin Audubon until incorporation as a 501(c)(3) in 2003. This was later changed to Klamath Sustainable Communities (KSC).
We worked with Waste Management, the City of Klamath Falls, and Klamath County to bring variable rate curbside recycling to Klamath Falls. KSC branched out into other areas of sustainability, establishing the Mills Community Garden in 2010. In 2018, the Klamath Tool Library and the Solid Waste Action Committee (SWAC).
In 2019, KSC changed its name to Sustainable Klamath (SK). We also revamped our content to reach more volunteers, inspire the community, and find new ways to advance sustainability in the Klamath Basin.
