West Coast Ballet is a new start-up Ballet Company located in Los Angeles. Their first production was Dracula (October 2022) at the charming Hermosa Beach Community Theatre. The show was directed by Co-Founder and professional dancer, Robbie Downey (@balletfreak). 

Dracula was a great success with a small cast of 6 professional dancers along with several up and coming dancers and a few students. The crowd was festive and for many this was their first ballet! West Coast Ballet was able to bring the arts to Hermosa and provide a wonderful performance opportunity for local dancers trying to get back on their feet after closures. 

Dancers and performing artists of all types were hit hard with lockdowns. But, it was an opportunity for many to step back and rethink their goals. It was also a period of reflection and observation of current ballet company culture. West Coast Ballet wants to provide a safe place to dance free from judgement and toxic work environments. In time WCB aims to offer stable and competitive living wages for company members as we gain support and funding. WCB is passionate about inclusivity and diversity and wants to challenge and disrupt the industry and help bring an outdated ballet culture into 2023 and beyond. 

Please support us in our mission and help us bring back Dracula in 2023 with a larger cast, backdrops, and effects. This year we have 18 students in the show with our professional dancers. We aspire to make Dracula a full Halloween annual dance festival and also aim to take the show on the road. We are a grassroots start-up but we have goals! We can achieve them with your support.
