Drama Island returns to Merced. Every Sunday for five weeks, beginning November 10th, 15 contestants will battle through intense challenges while supporting the Arts Nonprofit of their choice. This competition is live at the MAC, and you can buy your season pass through me. The Arts Nonprofit I have chosen is the Merced Symphony.
The Merced Symphony is the best-kept secret in our community. Founded in 1958, it has brought quality orchestral music to Merced and the surrounding Central Valley Region for 67 seasons. Our annual Children’s Educational Concerts in the spring expose 4th graders across Merced County to Symphonic music and in turn encourage them to learn an instrument of their own or appreciate classical music. Many of the children in our community have no opportunities to see this high caliber of musicians unless they travel outside the county.
Drama Island is performed live, and season tickets (good for all five shows) are just $20. What makes this competition unique is that all donations collected, plus season ticket passes sold by me, count towards the immunity idol! The volume of donations collected determines the immunity idol recipient. Half the donations and ticket sales I generate go to the Merced Symphony. The winning contestant receives additional funding for the Arts nonprofit of their choice.
