Origin Story & The Duck Truck

The “Duck ALS" Campaign began in the Center of Hope clinic with a single rubber duck and a simple moment of joy. Donna Sickles, our Respiratory Therapist, gave a patient a “cheeky duck” and said, “Duck ALS.” Their smile lit up the room — and the idea was born. Soon, Donna, along with the Center of Hope team, started brainstorming how to turn that spark into something bigger for those families living with ALS.

This year, our campaign has a specific and urgent mission: The Duck Truck!

For many living with ALS, access to durable medical equipment represents the critical bridge between isolation and connection. These tools are not merely conveniences; they are essential for maintaining independence and dignity. Currently, our greatest obstacle is the lack of a reliable system to deliver and maintain this life-changing equipment for those who need it most. Providing a full circle of support, the Duck Truck will deliver and recover this essential equipment to ensure these life-changing resources reach as many people as possible.
