LIGHT THE BLOCK is the first major fundraising initiative from Buy The Block PR, Villa Vista Puerto Rico and Somos El Cambio PR, aimed at tackling one of Puerto Rico’s most urgent crises: power instability among our most vulnerable; the elderly living alone.

The Problem

Puerto Rico experiences nearly 700 blackouts a year — and over 280,000 elderly people live alone. Many rely on electricity to refrigerate medication, power medical devices, or simply survive the heat. Every outage is a risk to their health, dignity, and life.

This is not just about energy — it’s about justice.

Our Solution

We’re raising $30,000 to provide 20 elderly households with solar-powered emergency kits that include:

Segway PowerCube 2200W + 100W Solar Panel
Powers fridges, CPAP machines, phones, and even cooking equipment for hours.
18" Solar Rechargeable Fan
Provides up to 30 hours of cooling and 60 hours of emergency lighting.

These kits mean independence, safety, and dignity in the face of repeated blackouts.
