Boomerang Theatre Company is a proud leader in the Indie Theatre community here in New York City. Founded in 1999 at the height of the creative bubble that (once again) pushed Off-Off Broadway and Indie Theatre to great acclaim, we have been producing innovative theatre for over 26 years.

We have persevered the loss of performance venues, the scarcity of funding, the reduction in press coverage and more, and yet Indie Theatre continues to grow and evolve. But limited resources and economic fluctuations continue to be big challenges.

Here's a snapshot of Boomerang's successes in our 26 year history:
-Audience totals of over 36,500 patrons, including over 21,000 free tickets to Shakespeare productions in public spaces.
-159 free performances of Shakespeare plays
-16 world premiere productions, 6 New York premieres, and 1 US premiere.
-33 plays and musicals directed by women
-10 New York Innovative Theatre Award nominations and three wins (Outstanding New Play - Burning The Old Man, Outstanding Director - Twelfth Night, Outstanding Supporting Actress - Burning The Old Man)
-An Off Off Broadway Review (OOBR) Award for Outstanding Production for The Misanthrope in 2001
-Indie Theatre's highest honor - The Caffe Cino Fellowship - awarded in 2008 for Sustained Excellence in Indie Theatre
