At The Pine Center, we work with folks navigating some really tender, complex experiences: trauma, dissociation, chronic stress, chronic illness, identity fragmentation, grief, and all the messy, painful stuff that can come from just trying to survive in a world that often doesn’t feel safe. We know healing doesn’t happen in a bubble. It happens while people are still trying to keep the lights on, care for their families, and move through systems that are under-resourced, exhausting, and sometimes violent.
If you live in the Charlotte metro area, you probably already know that this city is full of beauty and growth, but also full of deep inequality. It’s getting harder for many to stay afloat, let alone afford therapy. For immigrants, Black and brown communities, queer and trans folks, disabled people, and anyone living paycheck to paycheck, mental health care often becomes just one more thing out of reach.
And with everything going on in the world, politically, socially, globally, that strain is only intensifying. We’re watching basic rights be challenged, communities lose safety nets, and people pushed to emotional breaking points. Folks are burned out, grieving, and quietly carrying more than most realize.
That’s why we created the Community Care Fund at The Pine Center, a small but meaningful way to make mental health care more accessible, especially for people who are navigating multiple forms of oppression or financial instability. It’s one way we can say: you shouldn’t have to choose between surviving and healing. You deserve both. Because therapy should never be a luxury.
What the Fund Does
This fund is about mutual care, not saviorism, not charity. It’s about redistributing resources so that more people can get the support they need to breathe, process, and just be human for a minute.
Every dollar donated goes directly to covering the cost of care, no admin fees, no strings attached. Just direct support for people who need it.
It’s open to anyone in the greater Charlotte area, whether or not they’re a client at The Pine Center. Funds can be used for all kinds of mental health support like weekly therapy, diagnostic assessments, psychological evaluations, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient care, residential treatment, or even a short-term check-in when someone’s in crisis. And we’re connected with other trusted providers too, so people can find what works for them, no one is required to use these funds at The Pine Center.
Your donation helps:
-
Cover therapy, assessments, short or long term inpatient treatment, higher levels of outpatient care, or evaluations for people who can’t afford care
-
Create access for immigrants, LGBTQIA+ folks, disabled and chronically ill clients, and others often left out of traditional systems
-
Sustain support for those impacted by political violence, collective trauma, or long-term marginalization
Whether you give $5 or $500, your gift matters. It tells someone: you’re not invisible. You deserve to be cared for too.
Let’s build something better together.
Thanks for being part of it.
