We tell a lot of stories, always have, and with your help we would like to tell a lot more.

The East Bay Media Group news team is an experienced bunch with more than 200 years of combined community journalism experience. Our news team does a great job covering the community — but we don’t always have the time to go as deeply as we would like on some of the most important stories.

We are thrilled to announce that, with your support, we are launching a new initiative to solve that. East Bay Exclusive is a new approach and new team within our existing newsroom. Operating free from the limitations of our typical news cycle, this team will dig into stories that impact this community and this region — stories that are not being told, either by our own news group or others.

We will focus on:

• Public spending

• Coastal resiliency and climate change

• Education

• Property values and public infrastructure

• Social connections and community values

The East Bay Exclusive team will be made up of a diverse group of skilled and experienced journalists recruited from our region. These contributors will have different perspectives, voices and passions, but they will be driven by one objective — to shine a light on the stories impacting the quality of life in the East Bay region. We will be insightful. We will be in-depth. We will be independent. And we will investigate.

We will also listen — you will help to prioritize and shape the stories we pursue, with all suggestions welcomed.

We’ll get there together — backed by our donor-driven campaign, we will engage the brand new team of journalists to dive deeply into stories that are not being told.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 by the end of 2021 to fuel the launch of East Bay Exclusive in 2022. Every dollar donated will be directed exclusively to the staffing and support of this new investigative team.
