Building Tomorrow’s City Center Today

When The Crossing launched, the goal was to deliver badly-needed community space and programming to the City’s newest and densest neighborhood. But Covid’s impact on downtown has placed greater importance on the site, with Mayor Breed proclaiming The Crossing as “critical to downtown’s recovery.”

Situated between office buildings housing some of the worlds most influential companies and a concentration of architecturally-innovative new residential towers, The Crossing’s 3-plus acres provides the setting and the size to be a world-class destination for workers, residents and visitors.

While the site currently hosts a beer garden, outdoor cinema, recreation space and entertainment, much more can be done to make it the go-to location for employee engagement and community building while supporting local, small businesses.

How Funds Will Be Used

New engagement zones, activities and programming are planned, but we need your help for the site to realize its potential. Two funding categories allow donors to specify how funds are used.

I. NEW ACTIVATIONS ($1,000,000)

Pickleball - Three (3) new courts, permanent nets, fencing and seating. Recurring instructionals, tournaments and other programming.

Dog Park - Dog run, interactive features, fresh drinking water, seating, fencing. Social and happy hours.

Kids Play Area - Play structures and ground features. Age-appropriate features for 2-5 and 6–12 year olds. Enclosed area with seating

Site Enhacements - Lighting, seating, heating, interactive elements, art installations, security features

II. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ($700,000)

Cultural and Seasonal Events - Mardi Gras, Lunar New Year, Cinco de Mayo, Holi, Halloween, Oktoberfest, Pride, Watch Parties

Lunch Market - Food & beverage kiosks, food trucks, dedicated seating, lighting & design elements, music

Community Marketplace - Fresh produce & goods, merchandise & crafts, music, food & beverage, tastings

Entertainment - Live music, stand-up comedy, movies, dance instruction, roller-skating, themed-dining experiences, speaker series

If full funding not achieved in a category, funds will be allocated in a matter that activates the greatest number of elements and delivers the broadest benefits.
