We are once again approaching the most extraordinary event in the history of the world — the

Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

During Holy Week we recall the terrible suffering that preceded this moment. Christ was betrayed,

mocked, scourged, crowned with thorns, and forced to carry the Cross. He endured humiliation,

agony, and finally death itself.

But on the third day something remarkable happened.

He rose from the dead.

YES! HE HAS RISEN!

The Resurrection of Christ changed everything. It transformed despair into hope. It transformed defeat

into victory. It revealed that life ultimately triumphs over death and that truth ultimately prevails over

error.

THIS IS OUR EASTER APPEAL!

Each year at Easter I find myself reflecting on this profound reality — that even in the darkest moments

there is always hope.

Over the past many decades I have also reflected on how this same struggle between “HOPE” and

“despair” has been present within modern medicine and within the Church’s teachings on human life

and human fertility.

When Pope Paul VI issued the encyclical Humanae Vitae in 1968, the reaction from many theologians,

physicians, and members of the medical community was immediate and severe! Within only a few

days organized efforts were underway to criticize and dismiss the teachings of the Church. Many believed

that the Church’s teaching was unrealistic… and scientifically impossible!

But something very different has happened!!!

Over the past fifty years we have come to understand the human fertility system in ways that were

previously unimaginable.

Through the work of the Saint Paul VI Institute for the Study of Human Reproduction and through

the development of the CREIGHTON MODEL FertilityCare™ System, we have learned that

the human fertility system is not a disease to suppress or destroy. Rather, it is a beautifully integrated

biological system that can be understood, respected, and treated in ways that restore women’s health

and help couples who desire children.

This scientific work eventually led to the development of NaProTECHNOLOGY® (Natural

Procreative Technology) — a women’s health science that cooperates with and works in harmony with

the natural reproductive system.

And it works!!!

Today physicians trained in NaProTECHNOLOGY® and allied health professionals trained in the

CREIGHTON MODEL FertilityCare™ System serve patients throughout the United States and

around the world.

This work has now spread to multiple continents.

Thousands of teachers, educators, and physicians have been trained.

And yet. . . in many ways. . . this work is only just beginning.

As many of you know, for many years we have been working toward expanding the mission and outreach

of the Saint Paul VI Institute.

This effort has taken many years and continues to require careful planning, strong partnerships, and

significant financial support.

We remain committed to advancing this work in a way that will allow us to continue training future

generations of physicians and serving patients with life-affirming women’s health care.

I must admit something personal at this point.

I am now in my eighties (which, incidentally, I never thought I would say!), and if there is one thing I

would very much like to accomplish before the end of my career, it is to walk through the doors of a new

facility and see this work continue for generations

to come.

We continue to move forward in our efforts to establish a new home for the Saint Paul VI Institute and

to develop a surgical unit dedicated to the ongoing advancement of NaProTECHNOLOGY®. This

has been a long journey, and while the exact path forward is still unfolding, our commitment to this

effort remains very strong.

For that reason, I am asking you to seriously consider a gift to the Saint Paul VI Institute (a tax

deductible gift) at the time of the Resurrection.

We live in difficult times. We live in times of confusion. We live in times of great conflict.

And yet… HOPE REMAINS!!!
