Let me take you on a story I’ll never forget.

I started getting messages about a pig dumped at a junkyard not far from where I work. I didn’t have a crate, treats—nothing. Just a million thoughts running through my head about what I should do. After work, I stopped to grab food for Rusty at the vet… and that’s when I realized—I was only 14 minutes away from her.

My gut said go. So I went.

With nothing but leftover Moe’s and a bag of chips, I pulled into the recycling center and asked, “Is the piggy still here?”
“Yes,” they said. “She’s been here all day.”

A kind woman led me to where she was last seen. I tossed a few chips on the ground… and she came over. Then something incredible happened—she started eating right from my hand. Just like that, trust was built.

We made a plan to get her into a building so I could come back for her safely. What I didn’t realize? That building was over a quarter mile away.

And this sweet girl… she followed me the entire way. 🐽

With the help of the amazing staff, we got her safely inside. I stayed with her for over an hour and a half—talking to her, feeding her, even giving her belly scratches. She made the cutest little noises and just soaked up the love. She was ready to be safe.

Meanwhile, Megan jumped into action and sent her husband Johnny straight from work. No supplies—just determination and heart. Together, we gently got her into the car and off to a foster home.

And just like that… her new life began.

Now named Amy Swinehouse, this beautiful girl is settling in, finally safe, and truly living her best life. But my heart aches thinking about how long she was out there alone… and how close she came to spending another night in that place.

Now we have the chance to give her the future she deserves.
