Educating Adults in Transition (E.A.T. Method)

OBJECTIVE

To develop and produce the “E.A.T. Method” (Educating Adults in Transition), delivered as a TikTok-style educational app, providing former foster youth with essential life skills in the areas of financial planning & management, household planning & management, and relationship building. The app will be free for Moab House residents and available as a fee-based option for other former foster youth who would be sponsored by their county and/or other supportive services agencies.

RATIONALE

Many young adults transitioning out of foster care lack critical life skills necessary for independent living, and care-workers simply don’t have the time to teach them all they need to know in order to transition successfully. Traditional educational methods may not resonate with this demographic, but short, engaging, and visually appealing video content is an effective way to capture their attention and facilitate learning. The E.A.T. Method will:

• Offer skills-based education in a format that is easy to access and understand.
• Encourage Self-Paced Learning
• Measure Understanding
• Generate Revenue for Sustainability
• Empower all types of care-workers with a powerful, yet affordable resource to support former foster youth in transition.
