Eden Prairie Mutual Aid
The Need Remains and Is Growing
Minnesota dominated the headlines for months as we watched our region was overcome with violent occupation by ICE.
Although the headlines are quieter, we are seeing families in our community hiding in their homes. They are experiencing lost income, missed work, and ongoing stress, particularly as ICE pushes efforts into the suburbs and rural areas of the state. We are so grateful to all the people throughout this beautiful city who have guarded bus stops, shopped for and delivered groceries, watched for and documented often illegal activities.
That said, now folks are facing the crisis of paying rent after not working. Some households exhausted savings to get through the first months; others did not have that sort of cushion. As we continue to work for a rent moratorium in the state, we need to help our neighbors stay housed.
This fund will be focused on preventing housing instability in upcoming months.
We ask you in this season of sacrifice for many faith groups to make your generosity felt by those who are in great need locally. We can continue to show that the care of this community is far greater than the crisis, however epic it may be.
This is a fully volunteer-led mutual aid effort working in partnership with members of Indivisible, the Rapid Response Groups, and Charis Ecumenical Catholic Community. There are no paid staff or overhead costs. Funds are used directly to meet real needs identified by families, schools, and community organizers. In the case of rent help, it is disbursed directly to landlords on behalf of those in a non-payment crisis.
All gifts given to the Eden Prairie Mutual Aid Fund through Charis Ecumenical Catholic Community, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You will receive an automatic tax receipt in your email after donating. This is your formal acknowledgement of your contribution for the year.
