About This Campaign

We are a passionate group of neighbors from Japantown, NoPa, the Western Addition, and beyond, working to transform an underused space at Kimbell Recreation Area into a thriving 5,500-square-foot community garden.

In partnership with Greening Projects, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are turning a vision of 45+ raised beds and communal gathering spaces into a reality. This isn’t just about plants; it’s about providing access to fresh food, strengthening community bonds, and creating a calming sanctuary in our urban environment.

The Growth Roadmap

We have a phased plan to move from "Seedling" to a full "Canopy." Every dollar raised helps us unlock the next stage of development.

Phase 1: The Seedling ($100k Goal) Our current priority. This phase activates the space through soil testing, arborist reviews, and finalized city-approved blueprints.
Phase 2: Deep Roots ($300k Goal) Building the foundation. We will install main water lines, essential irrigation, and the sub-structure for accessible pathways while protecting our historic Stone Pine and palm trees.
Phase 3: Branching Out ($600k Goal) Defining the space. This stage funds perimeter fencing, truck and pedestrian gates, a tool shed, and a dedicated potting table area.
Phase 4: Stone Pine Canopy ($900k Goal) The finish line. We will build 45+ raised beds, install community art and seating, and establish a maintenance endowment to ensure this garden flourishes for generations.
