Did you know that at Cimarron Elementary School 50% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch? This is one of the 12 schools in the district who are Title 1 and are helping to feed our community children.

These 12 schools came together this past week to create food boxes and were able to deliver them to qualified families within the district. The food boxes were to help feed the students over the one week Spring Break. Many kids rely on their school meals as often the main meal they are able to have each day. Being out of school can mean being very hungry for way too many children. These 12 schools are now working on plans to restock their pantry and ultimately continue the delivery of food boxes as the extended shutdown of schools takes place. The kids need to be healthy while we work through this virus but they also need to be fed.

At Elevation Volleyball Club they were running a basic food drive to help restock the pantries post Spring Break. So Kyra's volleyball team has decided to take some of their 'spending money' that they would have spent at the recently cancelled Colorado Crossroads volleyball tournament and use it to spend on others by heading to the store and purchasing to stock up this food bank. This weekend they would have been fighting on the court for a championship and bid to Nationals and instead they are going to shop and be champions in the community.

We are reaching out to the community to add to this shopping trip. To enable more carts to be filled and more food to be purchase. The food pantries have been depleted to provide for Spring Break - the photos below are Cimarron's food pantry as of 3/13. All donations will go directly to the purchase of food to restock the pantry at Cimarron and other food pantries in the district to enable the incredible staff to disseminate to the families in need.
