Welcome to the second annual Saree Run organized by Desis of Doylestown and Arva Yoga! It is an absolute honor and pleasure to announce this fundraiser on the auspicious day of Mahashivratri 2023. There are two reasons why- 1. Arva Yoga was announced to the world on Mahashivratri 2020. So, in a way, it's Arva Yoga's second birthday:) And what better way to celebrate than announce an impactful initiative! As all of you know, Arva Yoga was born inspired by my paternal grandma to promote health and wellness by medium of offering Yoga to the community. Last year, Arva Yoga got a fantastic opportunity to partner with Desis of Doylestown to host the first annual Saree run! The idea of this was born inspired by my maternal grandma who used to be "athletic in a saree" and even compete in river crossing races in this garment. Her regret was she never completed her high school education. 2. The second reason as to why announcing this today is special is because today, Feb 18, 2023, she would have been 91! Earlier in Jan this year I had a chance to meet her and tell her all about the Saree Run success of 2022 that led to hundreds of girls completing their education! She was thrilled and so proud that it was indeed her story that inspired so much good in this world! I am sure she is smiling down today and wishing this endeavor another successful "run":) Organized in honor of International Women’s Day, and with 100% of the proceeds going to charities supporting Girl’s education, it is our pleasure to announce that this year, we are aiming to raise a total of $20K. To create awareness, welcoming one and all! Saree is a symbol - whether it is tank top and shorts, burka and hijab or saree or kimono, we welcome all. We create an environment where there are no biases, everyone is embraced for our unique selves. By embracing equity, this year's Saree run promises distribution of resources to those who need it the most!
