Come join and support our 2nd Annual Desis of Doylestown Saree Run on March 26, 2023, 10:00am - 12:00pm at Doylestown Central Park.
Being held in the month of International Women's day, Saree Run celebrates the progress made towards gender equality and embracing equity. Equity means providing fair and equal opportunities for all, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or other factors that may result in discrimination or disadvantage. Embracing equity means acknowledging and addressing the barriers that women face in accessing education, employment, and other opportunities, and actively working to overcome them
My aunt Uma Ramakrishnan, who I admire a lot for her grit, determination, and disciple, always reminds me that it's about furthering oneself and others in a meaningful way as you live and breathe each day. In her honor, I would like you to support the cause so we can support education for young girls in India who are being groomed to be changemakers.
The two non-profits are
1. Go Laadli - Led by Heera Shama
2. Shiksha Nidhi - Led by Santosh Yadav
Saree Run has gained a lot of traction since last year and is a unique initiative that involves women running in sarees, a traditional Indian garment worn by women, to raise awareness of the issues of gender inequality and promote women's empowerment. The saree run highlights the importance of embracing one's culture while also challenging traditional stereotypes and expectations about women's capabilities and roles.
Come celebrate with us as we recognize the contributions and achievements of women
