Each morning at Kanjoka 1 Primary School, all 450 students receive a hot, nutritious meal prepared by local mothers — our Food Mamas — providing stability, energy, and a tangible reason for children to stay in school and learn with confidence.

A daily meal is simple but transformative. In communities where chronic food insecurity affects nearly every household, school meals help students stay focused, improve attendance, and strengthen gender parity in the classroom.

Before joining Encore for Humanity, seasonal hunger and limited work opportunities made stability difficult. Today, as a Food Mama, Nelia helps prepare the meals that keep hundreds of students learning each morning.
