*Update 8/23: The press box was struck by lightning right before the 8/20 game. Enloe is working with WCPSS on a work order, but we hope this will provide extra resources to replace and update the equipment.

*Update 8/19: We weren't able to raise enough funds for the Aug. 20th game, but we will continue to fundraise. Our goal is to install piece by piece as funds are available to supplement the existing equipment.

Friday, August 20th, 2021 is the first football game of the 2021-2022 school year at Enloe High School. This will also be the first opportunity many of the students have had to be together like this since the beginning of COVID. While the games against Southeast Raleigh are always highly anticipated, this one will bring with it so many more expectations and questions. Will this game mark a return to “normal”?

When the students left Enloe in March of 2020, the PA system at the football field was cobbled together and not in great working order. When the students came back in April of 2021, the PA system at the field was in even worse shape.

The field at Enloe outside of the West Building serves as the backdrop to so many student activities. From homecoming and other school spirit events to the football games, and pep rallies, the field is central to student life at Enloe. It is truly the heart of the school and serves as a means to unite kids, many of which come from very different backgrounds.

Because the field is central to student life at Enloe, it is imperative that the A/V equipment be a tool and not an obstacle. It’s time to invest in Enloe, and we need your help. Friends, alumni, parents, staff, and students are all working to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for Enloe students after a year of isolation and social distancing. Now, we need YOU to help make this environment even more welcoming and inviting for students, their families and friends, and the community.

We want to bring the BOOM back to Enloe. We are investing in the sound that accompanies the Friday night lights, the music that creates the palpable energy to rally people together, and football games that BOOM! By making a tax-deductible donation by June 30, 2021, the system will be installed this summer and be ready for that first game in August 2021.

Our goal is to raise $15,650 for a new sound system for the football field, which includes:

4 Weatherized Speakers
1 High Output Powered Amps
4 Channel Mic Mixer
Audio Processor
Bluetooth Receiver
2 Wireless Handheld Mics (for use mid-field)

If we exceed our fundraising goal, we may also be able to move to Phase 2 to acquire a portable PA system ($4100) that can be rolled onto the softball field, track, and even in the senior lot. Phase 3 would include installing a similar sound system in the west gym for basketball and pep rallies ($20K).

The Enloe Eagles Athletic Booster Club is a parent-run 501c3 non-profit organization that actively supports the athletics program through volunteer work, fundraising, and event assistance. Our student-athletes depend on the support of all the parents who have athletes at Enloe. Wake County provides only $1,000 per year to each high school in Wake County for all of its athletics programs. $1,000 is insufficient to field and maintain even one major team. We must raise the money required to support our 600 student-athletes participating across our 35 men’s and women’s teams.
