My name is Eliav and I'm the chief pilot of Seattle Ballooning. Two weeks ago, we all saw a heartbreaking Facebook post about kids in the Enumclaw School District who didn’t have enough credits on their lunch cards to buy food. As a parent of a 6 and 9-year-old, this hit home for me. No child should ever have to wonder if they’ll get to eat school lunch.
That moment sparked an idea—what if we as a community could raise all the money needed in a single fundraising event? I reached out to my own balloon pilots and some of the local balloon pilots that live in Enumclaw and around the state, got in contact with the Thomasson Family Farm, and a few food truck friends, and we have a way to raise $25,000+ this week to make sure these kids are taken care of.
There is perfect weather this Friday evening.
Join us at the first annual Snow and Glow: Ensuring Every Kid Eats—a community-driven fundraising event to help pay off school lunch debt and provide school lunch meals for kids in need, ensuring no child in Enumclaw ever goes without school lunch again.
It’s co-sponsored by Seattle Ballooning and Thomasson Family Farm, this event will feature a spectacular hot air balloon glow with food trucks and music, with the goal of raising $25,000+ to provide meals for kids in need. We are providing tickets to the principals of the schools in Enumclaw to give to families that can’t afford so they can join as well.
