Support the Tenement Museum 2025

“…Powerful history doesn’t have to come from figures that have had monuments built, but the everyday people and family members that represent us as a whole. The triumphs, tragedies, perspectives, and positionality found in the stories put forth by the Tenement Museum have changed the way I view what history could be.”

— Robbie, High School Teacher, Pennsylvania

Each day on Orchard Street, we welcome teachers, students, and visitors into the homes of the immigrants, migrants, and refugees who called tenements home from the 1860s to 1980s. By drawing connections between families, past and present, visitors are invited to engage in history in all its complexity and contemplate what it means to be an American.

Your generosity enables us to remain steadfast in our efforts to showcase the history of ordinary families as extraordinary and inspire knowledge, empathy, and connection on the Lower East Side and beyond.

Thank you for your support and for being a part of our Tenement family. We wish you a wonderful new year!
