As we get ready for our upcoming New Orleans trip from September 30th - October 3rd, we have received messages from our supporters on how to contribute from afar. How can you help? Well as you can imagine many non-profits have seen diminished funding in the last few years, while natural disasters have continued to increase. While we are fortunate that EPTA has had some industry angels support us over the years, we still run short on what we can do to really help these houses become actual “homes” for the families.

The Armstrong Family's Journey

We want to share with you the story of Ronald Armstrong Jr. and his family, who have been trying to recover from the devastating effects of Hurricane Ida. He saw unbearable damage to his family home, a place he had called home for decades, where he cared for his elderly father and his fiancée.

Despite sheltering in place during the Category 4 storm, they watched in horror as the roof caved in around them and rain inundated the house. The damages were severe, with a tattered roof, collapsing drywall, growing mold, and persistent leaks.

Mr. Armstrong has done his best to repair the damages after the hurricane, but the extent of the damage has made it impossible for him to restore his home independently. Unfortunately, almost two years later, he's still living with a blue tarp for a roof and persistent leaks, among other issues.
