Attorneys for Black Excellence

The Attorneys for Black Excellence campaign is a fundraising effort led by Husch Blackwell LLP, Wisconsin Association of African-American Lawyers, Boardman & Clark LLP, and Dewitt LLP to raise a collective $250,000 from Madison's legal community by the end of Black History Month (February) to support The Center for Black Excellence and Culture.

Look around your law office. How many Black attorneys and staff do you see? Currently, only 2% of all the attorneys in Greater Madison identify as Black. Within our legal community we can do better! By supporting The Center and stronger Black cultural connection and representation in our community, Greater Madison will be a more appealing place for Black lawyers and other Black professionals to live and raise their children. Given the challenge all our firms face in attracting and retaining diverse talent in Madison, The Center will aid each of our recruitment efforts by increasing Dane County’s Black cultural opportunities and quality of life.

We ask for lawyers from across our community to join us in the Attorneys for Black Excellence campaign. All attorneys and firms donating to this cause will receive special recognition inside The Center as Attorneys for Black Excellence.
