Every Child, A Voice is Continuum’s season-closing experience and our annual Cause Concert, an evening where music and community come together in service of something larger than ourselves.

Through music shaped by the theme of childhood vulnerability, struggle, resilience, and the search for voice, this program invites us to reflect on the realities facing children in St. Louis who live with neglect, poverty, instability, and the challenges of foster and adoptive care. It also opens into a more universal human truth: what it means to feel unheard, and what it means to find your own voice.

Anchored by beloved and striking works from composers including John Rutter, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Leila Adu-Gilmore,and Adrianne Lenker, the evening offers both recognition and discovery, from the familiar innocence of Rutter’s Sing a Song of Sixpence to the emotional force of Adu-Gilmore’s Colouring-In Book, and the intimate contemporary voice of Lenker’s No Machine. The program will also feature the premiere of a brand new work by young composer Ed Frazier Davis, commissioned through Continuum’s Catalyst Composer Program.

As with every Continuum experience, this is more than a performance. It will also be an opportunity to hear from and connect with St. Louis nonprofit partners serving at-risk children, youth, and families. Through their presence and stories, we'll be invited into a deeper understanding of the needs in our community and offered meaningful ways to respond.

This concert is presented in partnership with the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University.

The Ensemble
Led by Dr. John McDonald -- Director of Choir and Vocal Studies at Washington University -- Continuum Vocal Ensemble is comprised of professionally trained artists and educators whose mission is to bring the experience of transformative choral music to new audiences in unique settings across St. Louis.

The Experience
Our focus will be the music, but like all of our events, the night is also about the space where we gather, and the people we'll meet. The evening will offer opportunities for meaningful social connection before and during the music, as well as a cash bar.

The Setting
This concert experience will unfold in the beautiful Clark-Fox Forum in Hillman Hall at Washington University, a striking, light-filled gathering space at the heart of the Brown School of Social Work. With its soaring wood ceiling, warm architectural presence, and connection to the work of the Brown School, it offers an especially fitting home for Every Child, A Voice.

Preferred Seating - $45/ticket (best seats available, centrally located in front of the ensemble)
General Admission - $35/ticket
Pay What You Can - As part of Continuum’s commitment to accessibility, a limited number of pay-what-you-can tickets will be made available approximately one week before the performance in reflection of our belief that artistic experiences should be open to as many people as possible, regardless of financial means.

⏰ Time: Doors will open at 5:30 pm for social connection and access to the bar. The performance will start around 6 pm and conclude by 8 pm.
