For nearly 28 years, Olive Hill Community Economic Development Corporation (OHCEDC) has stood beside individuals and families facing some of life's most difficult challenges.

We believe everything begins at home.

A stable home is more than a place to live. It is where children learn and grow. It is where families gather, recover from setbacks, and build dreams for the future. Home provides safety, stability, dignity, and opportunity.

Yet every day, families across Western North Carolina face obstacles that threaten that foundation.

Some are struggling to purchase their first home. Others are facing foreclosure after a job loss, illness, disability, or the death of a loved one. Many continue to recover from the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene and other economic hardships.

When families lose housing stability, the effects ripple throughout the entire community.

That is where OHCEDC steps in.

Through homeownership education, mortgage readiness counseling, foreclosure prevention services, financial education, disaster recovery assistance, and community partnerships, we help individuals and families find solutions, restore hope, and move forward.

In 2026 alone:

• 32 homeowners have sought foreclosure prevention assistance.
• 10 families have successfully remained in their homes through mortgage workout agreements.
• More than 160 individuals are expected to participate in homeownership and mortgage readiness programs.
• 25 families are projected to purchase and move into homes.
• Disaster recovery assistance continues for households impacted by Hurricane Helene.
