WIth the arrival of solar, electricity expenses have significantly decreased for the children’s home, the CRCA.. As with any large project, one accomplishment leads to a hope for the next level of efficiency.

From our staff in Kenya, the water pump consumes much of the stored battery power when the sun is not shining. Thus, the batteries are often left depleted when electricity is needed. The proposed solution is to increase water storage capacity so more pumping can take place when the sun is shining. This project will be beneficial to increasing efficiency, hopefully bringing our need for power from the grid to nearly zero.

The proposed water tower and tanks, as quoted by a reputable contractor in the Naivasha area for a total of $4800, including two tanks.

The picture shown includes the current tower & tank on the left side of the picture. The project will include a tower capable of holding four more tanks, with an initial two 10,000 liter tanks on the top of the new structure.
