SNAP with Stepping Stones is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to provide socialization, wellness, and water safety through aquatic programs for children with special needs.

Since opening in April 2022, SNAP has provided hundreds of aquatic therapy treatments and adaptive swim lessons to nearly 200 families. In August 2023, we became a social-recreational vendor with our local regional center, Tri-Counties Regional Center. Now families who have a child over the age of 3 with a disability can access our recreational programs through state funding.

We have a vibrant team of 15 therapists and adaptive swim instructors. Each member of our staff has a unique background and specialty. SNAP partners with the Yarrow YMCA in Westlake Village, to provide specialized aquatic programs to children with a wide variety of disabilities. We are so proud of the quality of work we are providing to our community through group aquatic classes, aquatic therapy and individual adaptive swim lessons. SNAP currently has a waiting list of over 75 families. The demand for our aquatic programs continues to grow, as new families are referred and current families request to re-enroll for services.

Our greatest challenges are:

Securing funding to hire and train additional staff; a cost of approximately $1,200 per new employee.
Maintaining an affordable cost for services; we provide the highest quality of swim program at below market rates, so that families who pay out of pocket can access our services.
Expanding to additional in-door pools in the San Fernando Valley to reach more families.

Our goal at SNAP is to meet each child where they are, work towards tangible outcomes in improved swim and safety skills and create a community where children and their families feel welcomed and supported.
