Giving to Open Your Heart is an efficient way for you to impact the lives of thousands of people who are experiencing hunger and homelessness in Minnesota.

Open Your Heart provides funding in three essential areas: shelter, food, and education. We target funding to more than 200 domestic violence shelters, food shelves and homeless shelters each year for specific, unmet needs.

For homeless shelters and supportive living centers across the state, Open Your Heart provides access to beds, linens, kitchen equipment, installed security systems, repaired roofs, and dozens of other projects. We focus on improving facilities and ensure safe and dignified environments for families, youth, and adults who are experiencing homelessness. From this place of safety and support, agencies can help stabilize those who are homeless and focus on critical next steps.

Furthermore, understanding that those who benefit from food shelves, primarily children, need more fresh produce and other nutritious food, Open Your Heart invests in infrastructure allowing food shelves throughout the state to regularly stock and distribute fresh and frozen foods.

Open Your Heart works to ensure that our most vulnerable neighbors are not forgotten. With support from generous people like you, our grantees can continue providing safe shelter for families experiencing homelessness; are able to deploy street teams to work with the unsheltered; have increased food and supplies for those facing food insecurity; can distribute laptops to homeless youth continuing their schooling remotely; and so much more.
