This project works to ensure that every individual who tragically loses their life near the border is treated with dignity, even when they are unknown. While Amerika and the Border Vigil team recently raised funds to purchase coffins for six identified individuals—providing them a final, respectful resting place—our commitment to human dignity continues. Many more people remain unidentified, and there will be an ongoing need for resources to provide basic coffins and burial support in the future.

Beyond providing dignified burials, we honor the memory of every life lost with an annual Cross Memorial Installation. Each December, a cross is placed for every migrant known to have died while journeying through the United States or while held in immigration facilities. This profound act of witness often involves installing hundreds of crosses, affirming the value of every life lost. Your contribution supports both the immediate need for dignified burials and this powerful, annual memorial that honors and remembers the hundreds who have died.
