As many of you already know, I left the corporate tech sector 21 years ago to start LEAP for Education. I made this transition to fulfill a dream I have had since my teens which is to work with older youth to design programs to bridge the opportunity gap and help students identify and leverage their strengths into a fulfilling and family-sustaining-wage career. It is my belief that education can level the playing field for low-income and first-gen students. 15 years of data has shown that to be true. Our students enroll in post-sec education at 2x the state average for low income students and graduate with a degree at 4x the rate.
While we have built a sustainable model over the years, we cannot grow in students served or programs offered without additional support. We are working today to expand in both Salem and Lynn.
I have a modest goal to raise $1,000 - to have 25 - 50 people give between $10 and $100 each. That is the power of peer-to-peer fundraising.
