Family First: Healing Together, Every Step of the Way

When one is injured, the whole family heals together.

When a loved one experiences a life-altering burn injury, the entire family is affected. The journey to recovery doesn’t just involve medical treatment but the emotional and mental health of everyone involved. The DC Firefighter Burn Foundation has been a beacon of support, providing personalized programs that prioritize the family unit in healing.

The DC Firefighters Burn Foundation provides comprehensive support services to burn survivors and their families, fostering healing, confidence, and community. Programs include monthly support groups for survivors and caregivers, the SOAR peer mentorship program, and participation in the inspiring World Burn Congress. Additional initiatives, such as the Image Enhancement Program, Outdoor Recreation Program, Firefighter Burn Survivors Week, Bert W. Martin Burn Survivors Retreat, and Adaptive Sports Program, empower survivors to rebuild confidence, explore new activities, and reconnect socially. These efforts are complemented by partnerships with burn rehab staff and volunteers, ensuring tailored, compassionate support for individuals in the Washington, D.C., area and beyond.

Your donation this Giving Tuesday helps ensure that families have the tools they need to support each other and recover together.
