WHAT'S UP: We're doing something audacious. We're creating a theatrical production about human flourishing. It's no small goal. With the help of many hands and hearts, and many many contributions (and a wee bit o' luck!) we'll produce this show in early 2025. (πŸ‘‡ READ MORE, CLICK LINKπŸ‘‡)

POWER OF THEATER: Art and pop culture are THE vehicles to communicate about human flourishing to the masses. So we're raising a bunch of dough to produce a world-class professional show in NYC.

*

MORE THAN A FLASH IN THE PAN: While it's true that theatrical arts are ephemeral, this show will live on across time through two artifacts: a video production and audio production for distribution on major media platforms.

ABOUT THE SHOW: FELLOW HUMAN: a play on mass human flourishing

FELLOW HUMAN is a hybrid theatrical show. It conveys in an entertaining way what we collectively know about human flourishing, and examines how mass human flourishing is generated. The show combines autobiographical stories with what the academic research on flourishing teaches us, and weaves it all together with a variety of comedy techniques and astonishing live music. The show examines and questions the role of technology in human flourishing, discussing what happened when one character broke up with her cell phone, and in stunning juxtaposition includes a cameo by Boston Dynamics' "Spot" robot dog. The show includes dramatic use of lighting, multimedia image projection, and live musicians. From the moment the audience enters the theater, the journey begins with an audio-soundscape of diverse fellow humans (all ages and walks of life) stating what human flourishing means to them. The second half of the show examines that which blocks mass human flourishing from arising (the answer will surprise you), looks at politics and governance, and submits a novel and courageous solution to destructive, polarizing leaders. The show ends with a participatory "revival" of song (think of a Baptist church on Sunday) and an inspiring message that leaves the audience feeling respected, at-choice in their flourishing, and alive. The goal of this show takes the audience on a participatory journey to recognize that mass human flourishing is possible.

INSIDER'S PEAK: EVERY CONTRIBUTOR OVER $100 WILL BE INVITED TO A SPECIAL THEATER REHEARSAL OF THE SHOW BEFORE THE PREMIERE.

WHAT WE'RE RAISING MONEY FOR NOW (updated July 2023): We're hiring parts of the creative team (a dramaturg is the key hire now), making the original theme song for the show with Marieme, and preparing to workshop the script at a theater in NYC. We're raising an initial $50,000 to accomplish these milestones.
