Everything Can Change Overnight

A child wakes up expecting an ordinary day.

By evening, a parent is gone.

The person who drove them to school, helped with homework, made dinner, paid the bills, or tucked them into bed may suddenly no longer be there. What remains is fear, uncertainty, and the impossible challenge of figuring out how to move forward.

This is the reality facing the families supported by FIBI.

Today, we support 19 families made up of 73 people: including 50 children. Many are navigating the sudden loss of a caregiver while trying to keep food on the table, maintain housing, care for their children, and preserve a sense of stability during a deeply traumatic time.

In moments like these, basic necessities become urgent needs. Groceries. Diapers. Formula. Transportation. School supplies. A helping hand. A community that shows up.

And our community has shown up.

What started as a small grassroots effort serving two families has grown into a network of neighbors helping neighbors. Community members have donated supplies, offered rides, shared resources, volunteered their time, and reminded families that they do not have to face these challenges alone.

But more families continue to reach out.

Monthly support allows us to respond quickly when a family is in crisis. It helps us provide essential resources with dignity and consistency, so families can focus on caring for one another rather than wondering where their next meal, diaper, or ride will come from.
