Fundação Internacional de Capoeira Angola (FICA) Philadelphia is dedicated to the practice and preservation of the African-Brazilian martial art, Capoeira Angola. Next year, 2026, marks FICA Philly's 30th annual roda at the Odunde Festival. The roda is the cypher, the clearing, in which we enter to play capoeira. It is a time to sing and celebrate, to challenge and be challenged, to boldly express the genius of the embodied ancestral practice that is Capoeira Angola.

O próximo ano, 2026, marca a 30ª rodada anual da FICA Philly no Festival de Odunde. A roda é a clareira onde entramos para jogar capoeira. É um momento para cantar e celebrar, desafiar e ser desafiado, e para expressar com ousadia a genialidade da prática ancestral e corporificada que é a Capoeira Angola.

The largest African-American street festival in the United States, Odunde is a manifestation of the cultural depth of the African diaspora. Each year on the second Sunday of June, practitioners and master artists of Capoeira Angola from across the U.S. and around the globe travel to celebrate the Yoruba new year and participate in our annual roda.

To celebrate FICA Philly's 30th anniversary at Odunde we are organizing an event that will include workshops with guest teachers Contramestre Thiago (FICA Belo Horizonte) and Contramestre Gabriel (FICA Belo Horizonte), community roundtable discussions (bate-papo), Samba and Afro-Brazilian percussion, and musical offerings by our new friend Sergio Perere from Belo Horizonte. The event will culminate in our roda de branco on Sunday, June 14th, 2026.

O maior festival de rua afro-americano dos Estados Unidos, Odunde é uma manifestação da profundidade cultural da diáspora africana. Cada ano, no segundo domingo de junho, praticantes e mestres de Capoeira Angola de todos os EUA e do mundo todo viajam para celebrar o ano novo iorubá e participar de nossa roda anual.

Para comemorar o 30º aniversário do FICA Philly em Odunde, estamos organizando um evento que incluirá oficinas com os convidados Contramestre Thiago (FICA Belo Horizonte) e Contramestre Gabriel (FICA Belo Horizonte), bate-papos, samba e percussão afro-brasileira, e ofertas musicais do nosso novo amigo Sergio Perere de Belo Horizonte. O evento culminará com nossa roda de branco no domingo, 14 de junho de 2026.
