The NT-DSA Fighting Possum Solidarity Fund

The Fighting Possum Solidarity Fund, created by the Northeast Tennessee Democratic Socialists of America (NT-DSA), exists to support Northeast Tennesseans who incur hardship as a result of their efforts to build people power in their communities. It provides assistance to those who suffer state repression or employer retaliation as a result of organizing activities in the fields of immigrant rights, labor, tenant power, bodily autonomy, queer liberation, and more.

The fund is sustained by voluntary donations from NT-DSA members and other residents of Northeast Tennessee. Members and non-members are eligible for assistance, with a maximum grant of $500 per recipient.

Decisions about aid distribution are carried out in accordance with the “Resolution to Establish the Northeast Tennessee DSA Solidarity Fund,” passed by the chapter’s membership in October 2025. Ultimate decision-making power rests with the general membership of Northeast Tennessee DSA.
