We were founded in 2013 in Des Moines, IA. Since then, the organization has expanded its reach to every corner of the state of Iowa. The leadership team is made up of unpaid volunteers; united under the BAYANIHAN spirit, and dedicated to serving the community.
Some of the services that FAS is able to offer include:
- Immigration and relocation services to coach, guide, and sponsor Filipino's arriving in the state of Iowa. Our goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where new Associates feel accepted and connected to the community.
- School supplies, help procuring necessary household supplies, and other assistance in getting settled into a new life in Iowa.
- Scholarships and college readiness workshops geared towards educating, uplifting, and providing opportunities for Filipino-American youth living in the state of Iowa.
- Fun and engaging community gathering events that feature treasured aspects of Filipino culture/heritage.
- Honoring individuals in our community who have made notable sacrifices for the common good.
- Community outreach days where we gather together and volunteer our time to build homes, deliver food to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity, clean up the river banks, and so much more!
