Dear friends and family, As most of you know, last summer I had the amazing opportunity to serve at Camp Firwood in Bellingham, Washington, on the Operations Crew. The Lord has recently put it on my heart that serving at Firwood is where I need to be this summer. This summer, I will have the opportunity for considerable growth in my relationship with God, as I will be directly impacting the lives of middle school and high school students through leading worship and small groups. At the beginning of last summer I felt like I was being called by God to make a change in my own life that I wasn't able to recognize by myself. Before I left for camp I was struggling with anger, selfishness and pride. Not to say that I never struggle with these now from time to time but, serving at Firwood helped me to grow in my relationship with God and leave these sins behind. 2 Corinthians 5: 17 says “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”. Serving at firwood and being in close proximity with brothers and sisters helped me to see that God truly was omnipotent and that it is only by his grace that I could do any of this and that he could deliver me from darkness. With that in mind in this new position, I will gain hands-on experience in leading small groups and telling kids about the grace that God offers us all through his son. In this position I will also have the opportunity to help lead worship on a nightly basis. I am looking forward to the experience I will gain as a follower of Christ and what that will mean coming home and serving at my church. As you may have already guessed, there is a cost to serving at Firwood. I have set a goal to raise $4,000. I have already raised $1,500, but I need your help to raise the rest of this support money.
