Hunger Action Los Angeles (HALA) is an organization dedicated to ensuring food security for vulnerable populations in the Los Angeles community. We are committed to ending hunger and promoting healthy eating through advocacy and our programs: Market Match, CalFresh Enrollment, and Food Delivery.

We have received a small grant from the Port of Long Beach to organize our first fishing program pilot. We will be fishing at El Dorado Park with members or representatives of organizations like Hoops Afer Dark (Leonard Adams), F.O.C.U.S. (Billy Brown) Developing Future Leaders (Keith Lilly), Love Beyond Limits (Maleka Chris), Faith-Rooted Organizer (Sithy Bin), and Success Stories (Hugo Gonalez).

We hope to teach adults and youth tools to help them provide for themselves, have fun, recharge, and relax. This can all be done through the art of fishing. We will utilize local fishing enthusiasts to bring this skill set to community members and teach them the basics. In time, we hope to take the participants to other places so they can explore different environments through fishing.
