Children's Mental Health Awareness Week Movie Event
NAMI Central PA and Midtown Cinema are kicking off Children's Mental Health Awareness (CMHA) Week with a free viewing of the film Inside Out on Sunday May 4th and wrapping up the week with a free viewing of Inside Out 2 on Saturday May 10th! After each viewing, there will be a brief Q&A with local youth mental health professionals. Mental health is not simply the absence of a mental disorder. Mental health affects how children think, feel, and act. Being mentally healthy during childhood means reaching developmental and emotional milestones and learning healthy social skills and how to cope when there are problems. This year's CMHA week campaign theme is "That's a WRAP!", focusing on Wellness, Resilience, Action, and Purpose. Disney's Inside Out 2 helps teach children of all ages about mental health and highlights this year's theme by: -Normalizing all emotions, making it easier for children to express themselves -Promoting discussions about emotions through relatable and engaging movies -Supporting emotional regulation -Understanding how core memories shape our personality -Discussing how and why personalities evolve and change as we grow up -Connect the value of possessing the language to express emotions as it relates to all areas of life This event is FREE to the public, but you MUST register to reserve your seat in advance - Please be sure to check which date and film you are registering for. Ticket must be presented to enter the theater.
