What is Forests250?

Forests250 is the forestry and natural resources’ outreach and education initiative to complement the America250 initiative. The Forests250 campaign embraces the America250 theme to engage with the American public in innovative ways and highlight the role of forests in achieving the Administration’s goals on forestry, timber, resource extraction, multiple use, and wildfire management. This campaign aims to build a legacy of forests and forest stewardship for America's next 250 years through education, collaboration, celebration, and investment.

America250

America250’s mission is to celebrate and commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, marking America’s Semi-quincentennial.

Society of American Foresters (SAF)

SAF is the organization that represents forestry professionals and provides leadership to ensure that all members of the profession achieve excellence in sustainable forestry and natural resource management. From 2025 through 2026, SAF celebrates 125 as an organization.

USDA Forest Service

The Forest Service, an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is the nation’s foremost federal forestry organization. The agency is a world leader in forest research, providing leadership in the sustainable management, conservation, use, and stewardship of natural and cultural resources on national forests and grasslands in the United States. In 2025, the USDA Forest Service recognized 120 years of service.
