Covid-19 has presented new challenges in the way we work, the way we play, and the way that we eat and buy food. Because of this, Forsyth Farmers' Market needs your support now more than ever. We need you to shop at the market, to spread the word, and to invest in the future of our farmers and community. Many people ask, “Why does a farmers’ market need to raise funds?” The answer is Forsyth Farmers’ Market is so much more than a market.

From the beginning, Forsyth Farmers’ Market’s mission has been to support local farmers and make wholesome, locally grown food available to all community members. Now, in our 11th year, we’re making huge strides on both of these fronts. We have accomplished a lot, and are proud of our work. After reading about our accomplishments, we hope you will be proud too.

In the past twelve months, we have:

Provided retail space for 57 small businesses, 33 of which are farms.
Increased market sales by almost 30% over last year.
Doubled over $20,000 in SNAP benefits at the Saturday market so that more than 400 low-income families went home with more than $40,000 in fresh, local food.
Purchased more than $41,000 in produce from local farmers to take into community via Farm Truck 912, our mobile farmers’ market which primarily serves low-income, low-food access neighborhoods.
Sold $9,000 of fresh produce at half off to SNAP customers on Farm Truck 912
Developed a Covid-19 Food Fund that has distributed $6,900 worth of produce to those negatively affected by the pandemic. This also meant an additional $6,900 in sales to our farmers who were struggling because of Covid-19.
Distributed $3,000 in produce vouchers to participants of 912 Food Farmacy, a produce prescription program that provides education and incentives to low-income individuals who have or are at-risk for a diet related chronic disease.
Offered numerous nutrition education opportunities which reached more than 2000 people.

Covid-19 has stressed the importance of the local food system. Instead of abandoning our programs or cancelling markets, we found ways to adapt to the times. That is resilience.
