HOODSCHOOL NYC: is an autonomous collective of community members, cultural workers and organizers rooted in the Black Radical Tradition.

We are 100% Community Funded!

We host programs like Harlem Fight Club : Queer & Femme Self Defense courses, YOUTH2POWER engaging radical youth leadership, and For The Hood mutual aid distributions, political education opportunities, and cultural events in Harlem.

For The Hood Fund exists so that foundations, companies & boards can't decide and what work is important and what isn’t. The People do!

We believe through collectivity and sharing resources our communities are able to move beyond charity based structures to create self determination & bold shared futures together right now.

Some people can give a lot, others can spare a few dollars each month some give of their time or talents - it 100% takes a (big) village to get this work done.

Everyone has a part to play.

Every dollar you give here goes to these core projects:

Radical Community Education: From first aid, holistic health and self defense courses to Youth2Power —abolitionist youth led organizing in Harlem, town halls and soon community led Freedom Schools.
Mutual Aid : Direct support for mutual aid programs , grocery distributions, and emergency support funds.
Cultural Organizing: June Jordan Salon, Benefits and Community Activations like our Annual Black August month of Power. The People's Open Mic & Poetry Workshop Series is a literary and somatic experience that engages community in speaking truth to power. Held in an environment with tools to make word into action. Political education and skills shares are regular occurrences in our programming as we bridge the relationship between creativity and creating new worlds.
