The Catskill Symphony Orchestra's second concert celebrates the eternal appeal of music that captures innocence, joy, and spiritual renewal. The evening opens with Claude Debussy's enchanting "A Children's Corner," where the French impressionist's delicate orchestration transforms childhood's wonder into shimmering musical watercolors. The program continues with Franz Schubert's Mass in G major, D. 167, performed in collaboration with the SUNY Oneonta World Chorus and Friends under the direction of Brian Reynolds. This radiant sacred work exemplifies Schubert's gift for creating music of profound simplicity and heartfelt devotion, as the chorus and orchestra unite in expressions of faith and celebration.

The concert concludes with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Symphony No. 29 in A major, K. 201, composed when the master was just eighteen years old yet already displaying the perfect balance and crystalline clarity that would define his mature style.

Together, these three works represent music at its most life-affirming—Debussy's nostalgic childhood memories, Schubert's spiritual optimism, and Mozart's youthful exuberance creating an evening that reminds us why great music remains forever young.
