"Freedom in Motion" is a youth performance series rooted in Black American history and culture, leading up to our annual Juneteenth New England celebration on June 21st. Through music, dance, and spoken word, kids and teens (ages 5-16) will learn about the significance of Juneteenth while preparing for a powerful group showcase honoring Black resilience, joy, and creativity.

Each month, participants will come together to:
⭐ Explore Black history through storytelling and interactive lessons.
⭐ Develop artistic skills in singing, stepping, and spoken word.
⭐ Build confidence and community in a supportive space.
⭐ Prepare for an unforgettable performance celebrating our legacy of collective care and liberation.

Facilitator Bios

Vanessa Weathers
Vanessa Weathers is a dedicated community organizer, educator, and parent who educates her child at home. As leader within the BWINH Collective, she is passionate about fostering learning environments that center Black history, culture, and collective care. With years of experience in childcare and youth programming, Vanessa is committed to creating spaces where children feel empowered, connected, and confident in their cultural identity. Through Freedom in Motion, she aims to help young performers build a strong educational foundation while celebrating the rich legacy of Black American history.

Jessica Sol
Jessica Sol is a parent, educator, and long-time advocate for accessible and engaging education. She homeschools her child with a focus on fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and cultural awareness. As a member of the BWINH Collective, Jessica believes in the importance of community-based learning and creating opportunities for children of all backgrounds to thrive. With extensive experience in childcare and a deep passion for youth development, she is excited to guide participants in Freedom in Motion as they explore Black history, creativity, and collective expression.
