Who We Are

The Friends of the SWC (FSWC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting and expanding the impact of the Seattle Women's Commission (SWC).

The SWC is a group of 21 volunteers working at the intersection of policy recommendations, advocacy, resource access, and community engagement to amplify the voices of women in Seattle and address the most pressing challenges they face.

While SWC plays a vital role in advancing gender equity across Seattle, its impact is significantly limited by a lack of dedicated funding from the city. FSWC was created by members of the Commission to help bridge that gap, ensuring this critical work can grow and reach the communities who need it most.

What We Do

Your donation will fund:

Community-driven events and programming that center the voices and lived experiences of women in Seattle
Public awareness campaigns on critical issues that disproportionately impact women, particularly women of color, immigrant communities, and LGBTQIA+ individuals
Partnerships with local organizations and advocates to develop community-driven solutions
Flexible funding to respond to emerging needs and advance gender equity

Our Goal: Raise $5,000 in our first year to expand the reach of this important work.
