For years it was just a dream, close enough to touch, but far enough to be unreachable.

I dreamt of becoming a children’s book author, to share my wild stories with other children who enjoyed imaginative stories.

Two years ago, that dream became a reality, and while it’s not reaching all the corners of the world and touching millions of lives, it makes a difference for those who read it.

My Name is Najla Ali,

And I want to share the my stories with the world.

My stories have positive messages wrapped into fun to read stories with the main characters consisting of different races.

My dream is one that I had actually lost when I was a child. It is to continue to create children's books that have positive messages, but also has representation of all races and disabilities.

Instead of creating stories around the difference or disability, I just want to have inclusivity normalized instead of bringing attention to it. And while the books that highlight the struggles of the minority are very important, I want a different perspective for kids today. Normal kids in Normal stories.

A few years ago, I was incredibly excited to see African American and Asian ballerina figurines at the ballet. I want every kid to feel how I felt when I saw that. Included.

Wrapping it up, I want to create children's books that make children feel included without bringing attention to the things that are different about them.

I have already done a book reading at my local elementary school and the children are enthralled. They love them. The impact of children seeing themselves represented in a book is beyond amazing for self esteem, self love and confidence. I want to spread that message.
