Support Education Justice in Camden
Help Camden Families Fight for Their Schools
The Camden Black Learning + Organizing Committee (CBLOC) is a community-led coalition committed to protecting the future of Camden’s students and traditional public schools.
For more than a decade, Camden’s public school system has remained under state control, limiting the voice of parents, students, and community members in decisions that shape the future of their education.
Today, Camden’s schools face serious challenges, including a $91 million budget deficit, the loss of essential support staff, and policies that continue to weaken neighborhood schools.
CBLOC is organizing a grassroots education justice campaign to bring transparency, accountability, and community leadership back into Camden’s education system.
But we need your support to make it possible.
Our Mission
The Camden Black Learning + Organizing Committee (CBLOC) believes that communities have the right to define themselves, name themselves, create for themselves, and speak for themselves.
Our mission is to empower Camden parents, students, educators, and residents to organize for education justice, civil rights, and equitable public education.
Through grassroots organizing, community education, and advocacy, CBLOC works to ensure that Camden’s traditional public schools are fully resourced, transparent, and accountable to the people they serve.
The Issues Facing Camden Schools
Mismanagement of Public Funds
The Camden City School District is facing a $91 million budget deficit, yet the State of New Jersey has not clearly explained how this deficit occurred while the district remains under state control.
Student Neglect
Students have lost critical educational support after district support staff were removed with no plan for rehiring, leaving many students without the services they rely on.
Discriminatory Policies
Camden remains a district under state control, while policies such as the New Jersey Urban Hope Act, One Camden Enrollment, and the expansion of Renaissance Schools have weakened traditional public schools and reduced community influence in educational decisions.
Our Campaign Goals
Education and Direct Action
Organize and educate Camden parents and students so they can become informed advocates and community leaders.
Civil Rights Advocacy
Address student neglect, challenge the mismanagement of public funds, and confront discriminatory practices that have impacted Camden schools for more than 13 years.
Policy Reform
Advocate for meaningful reforms, including:
Hiring an independent firm to audit school funding

Challenging policies that harm Camden’s traditional public schools
