🌸 The Story Behind the Full Bloom Birth Fund

My own birth experience showed me just how dangerous and devastating it can be when mothers are ignored. I developed preeclampsia, but my concerns were dismissed until it was almost too late. In labor, I was left alone, unheard, and nearly delivered my baby without medical support. After birth, I struggled silently through postpartum depression, without the education, advocacy, or care I so desperately needed. No mother should ever have to endure that kind of neglect—yet for far too many Black women, this is the reality.

The truth is this:
👉🏽 Black women are 3–4 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women.
👉🏽 Georgia has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the country.
👉🏽 Doula care is proven to improve outcomes, lower C-sections, reduce trauma, and save lives.

But here’s the problem: doula care and childbirth education are often out of reach for families who need them most. Insurance rarely covers these services, leaving too many Black mothers vulnerable to the same system that nearly failed me.

That’s why I created the Full Bloom Birth Fund—to remove financial barriers and ensure every mother in Metro Atlanta has access to the advocacy, education, and support she deserves.

We are raising $50,000 to provide Black families in Metro Atlanta with free or low-cost doula support and childbirth education. Because every mother deserves to be seen, heard, and supported.
