Andrea's Fundraiser in Honor of Maylee

For my birthday in March 2020, I wanted to do something special to honor our sweet daughter, Maylee, who was born still on November 29, 2019. The response and support we received was OVERWHELMING - we donated FOUR cots to hospitals in need. We decided to leave our fundraiser open to celebrate Maylee's birthday every year. Each year, we hope to share a new part of our story to help other families.

Our Story:
Thanksgiving Day 2019, I was 38 weeks pregnant (9 days away from my scheduled induction), and something didn't feel right (besides that I ate wayyyy too much food that day). We called the doctor and they sent us to the hospital - there was no heartbeat. Our daughter, Maylee Cunin, was born still as a result of a cord complication on November 29, 2019 at 12:29AM.
After she was born we had the opportunity to spend time with her...as much time as we wanted thanks to this organization and a CuddleCot system they help provide to hospitals. At the time, I didn’t know that this was a commodity that many families don’t get - I assumed this was standard issue medical equipment. I later learned this was not the case and hospitals without this equipment require parents to separate from their baby while they are placed into a morgue refrigerator to cool.
Having a CuddleCot provided us with so much comfort during the worst days of our life. It allowed us to spend time with Maylee that we would not have had. When Doug & I learned that not all hospitals (locally) have these cooling systems, We immediately decided we wanted to help.
While we NEVER want anyone to have to experience this pain, we certainly don’t want anyone in this situation to not get to spend the time they need and want with their child.
